Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) New Intel Xeon D-2100 Processor To Address Edge Applications Needs

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) recently introduced a new product-Intel Xeon D-2100 processor. It is a System on Chip (SoC) processor especially architected to fulfill the edge applications’ needs and the requirements of the other network applications or data center that are facing space and power limitations.

The company in a statement stated that the Intel Xeon D-2100 processor carries forward the innovation and record-breaking performance of the Intel Xeon Scalable platform from the data center’s heart to the web tier and network edge. It works exclusively where the cloud service providers and network operators are facing the need to improve the performance and capacity continuously without having to increase power consumption.

According to the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Network Platforms of Group, Sandra Rivera, the Intel Xeon D-2100 processor will allow the service providers as well as the enterprises to deliver the optimum compute intelligence at the web tier’s edge while using comparatively less power. She said that service providers will have to optimize their data centers and edge infrastructures in order to seize 5G and new cloud network opportunities for meeting the growing demands of end users hungry for bandwidth and their smart and connected devices.

Intel Xeon D-2100 To Enable Greater Performance

The new product from Intel will make greater performance and hardware-enhanced security for the network edge possible. With the increase in the workloads demanding more analytics, compute and data protection closer to endpoint devices Xeon D-2100 is sure to make a lot of difference when it comes to increasing the level of performance.

With the help of these new processors, CoSPs will also deliver workload-optimized, higher-capacity networking services with a improved performance level at lower power in encryption services as well as in virtual customer premise equipment such as VPNs.

The Xeon chips from Intel normally are placed in brawny workstations or distant server room. However, the D-2100 version will also be effectively used where connected cares, streaming video, VPNs and other techs frequently is in need of computing power.
