With an improved balance sheet after the California News Group sale, tronc Inc (NASDAQ:TRNC) is starting with a national digital growth plan via its newly restructured Tribune Interactive segment, which will manage the digital functions of the firm, as well as follow strategic growth acquisitions and investments, such as its newly reported majority stake in high growth customer reviews and e-commerce firm, BestReviews.
Tribune Interactive will be the base to tronc’s functions and digital assets, including product engineering and development; digital marketing and subscriptions; the studios segment which is responsible for audio, video and new content arrangements; national digital sales; and last, digital business and corporate development.
TI will also comprise syndication segment TCA and recently bought, The Daily Meal. It will introduce, partner with, acquire and invest in digital operations and boost growth of new digital and expanded revenue streams. TI will also continue to distribute and develop national digital content to different brands within tronc, and across affiliated mobile and web properties, social platforms and partners.
It will be led by unique reinstated executive Mr. Ross Levinsohn as CEO. Also, Mickie Rosen is all set to serve as President while Lewis D’Vorkin will be Chief Content Officer. Ben Gerst will serve as Chief Technology Officer while Mark Campbell will lead digital subscriptions and marketing. Also, Rob Angel will lead business and corporate development.
After an independent probe and a report to the Board finding no misconduct on the part of Levinsohn, the Board decided to reinstate Levinsohn and appoint him CEO of Tribune Interactive. TI will be based in Chicago. Dearborn expressed that they are thrilled to continue to advance the future of the firm through digital content and product innovations and distribution measures, as well as strategic associations and acquisitions to boost growth. They are delighted that Ross will be joining back the team.
